Osborne Head Support System.

The Osborne Head Support System consists of a headrest mounted on a support stand. A chin piece has been added to provide more stability and comfort. 4 knobs used with the support stand allow adjustment of the headrest to control precisely the angle of the face piece. The headrest is a modified Duncan Headrest. It is comfortable, and provides a good airway. Its design eliminates the "closed-in" feeling common with other methods of positioning. With a large, flat base edged with rubber channel, and sturdy, Plexiglas side-supports for the headrest, the Support Stand is designed to obviate slippage. The hook & loop adjustable straps attached to the Stand assist in maintaining the head in the desired position. The space open for the face to breathe in the Stand provides access for tubes and wire mechanisms. The entire Head Support System is radiolucent and does not affect radiographic techniques. Goniometric Osborne Head Support System.

The Goniometric Osborne Head Support System provides a significant improvement to the original Osborne: a goniometer for precise measurement of extension or flexion of the neck. In addition, the chin may be placed at any of three heights to facilitate greater extension or flexion. With the Goniometric Osborne, once a patient's head has been set at the correct position for treatment, the precise angle may be recorded so that the patient may be repositioned exactly the same for later treatments without the need for measurement.
